How kaolin connects with the wire and cable industry
The quality and durability of cable insulation directly affects the performance and dependability of cable products. Using calcined and surface treated kaolin, BASF has helped improve electrical and physical performance — even at high stress with elevated moisture and temperature levels.
Surface treated kaolins impart added functionality placing our Translink grades as premium-performance reinforcing extenders
Calcined kaolin is manufactured by controlled heat treatment to remove the bound water of hydration from the crystal structure. This enhances the optical properties, abrasion resistance, electrical resistance, brightness and inertness.
This not only saves electricity, but increases the cable's useful lifespan so costly replacement is needed less often.
